and then (re-)submitted to Robin Peel.
Help with this task is welcome anytime here. Can be done onlne,
evaluating a simple "diff" on googlecode, single airport side by side.
Every airport needs to be checked manually. You will need some skills in
xplane data definitions ... but these are documented well. I can also
which one is the more improved airport.
collected by Martin Spott. Most improvements have never come to xplane
database, so we will loose this data switching to newer xplane data. 810
data format will not be updated anymore chez xplane.
Post by HB-GRALHi all
Now one can "see" what probably would happen to FlightGear submissions
1) Here you find the changes collected on mapserver apt.dat
http://code.google.com/p/flightgear-world-scenery/source/browse/#git%2Ftools%2Fapt-extractor%2F032012-mapserver
2) Here you find what comes up for this airports from current xplane apt.dat
http://code.google.com/p/flightgear-world-scenery/source/browse/#git%2Ftools%2Fapt-extractor%2F032012-xplane
http://code.google.com/p/flightgear-world-scenery/source/browse/tools/apt-extractor/032012-diff/
Then you choose a file like "EETN_850.dat" in this diff folder and click
on top right on "diff" to the last commit. Now you can compare what is
coming up from the mapserver apt.dat and what will come in by current
http://code.google.com/p/flightgear-world-scenery/source/diff?spec=svn038ed45b210b19481bee8c1bf2d97044910ff5a1&r=038ed45b210b19481bee8c1bf2d97044910ff5a1&format=side&path=/tools/apt-extractor/032012-diff/EETN_850.dat&old_path=/tools/apt-extractor/032012-diff/EETN_850.dat&old=9366cde3894c295e64783c184a06b12d79e19352
These airports are still missing in xplane apt.dat (or whatever reason).
Needs to be checked and submitted to Robin Peel again probably?
http://code.google.com/p/flightgear-world-scenery/source/browse/tools/apt-extractor/missing-in-xplane.txt
Now all the others have to be checked/compared manually I think. See 1),
2) and 3). It is not that much work, I guess most of the airports comes
in a better state from xplane, but this has to be verified of course.
Cheers, Yves
Post by f***@sablonier.chHi Martin
Would it be possible to have a dump (or other collection) of improved
apt.dat data of all airports improved by flightgear community the last
years? There is this .txt file of ICAO codes on the mapserver, but I could
not find the submitted data anywhere published, maybe I missed it.
The data is needed for comparing to recent apt.dat 850 and to see how
updates could/should be taken into account, or if this airports have been
updated elsewhere meantime (i.e. by xplane contributors), and what data
might be more valuable for flightgear at the end.
Thanks, Yves
